Invisalign is a treatment that uses removable near-invisible aligners to straighten your teeth. They offer an alternative to traditional braces.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Invisalign uses a comfortable material to create a customised aligner.
Using digital technology we work with you to decide how your teeth will look. After taking an impression of your teeth we use computer modelling to create the clear plastic aligners. By designing everything on screen we make adjustments to get the right results. The individually custom- made aligners allow us to move individual teeth to give you the exact smile you want.
We create a set of custom-made aligners that gradually move your teeth into the desired position, little by little, over a period of up to six months. You collect your new aligners from us every six to eight weeks and at each visit we check that your teeth are moving correctly and make any adjustments.
The aligners are designed to be comfortably worn for at least 22 hours each day but are easily removed for eating, brushing your teeth or flossing. But because they are almost invisible you’ll feel confident wearing them all the time.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Invisalign is a comfortable alternative to braces. Unlike braces it’s clear and therefore not noticeable. It is well-researched and recognised as the best retaining system in the world.
Its flexible approach means it can be adapted as treatment progresses to achieve the exact look that’s best for you.
Straighter teeth are less likely to be susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease.
DOES IT HURT?
You may get some discomfort and feelings of tenderness at the beginning of your treatment. This can be alleviated with pain killers and by avoid certain foods. We will of course help you with any problems you might have and ensure the process is as pain-free as possible.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WORK?
Treatment time can range from 3 months up to two years depending on the complexity of the case.
IS IT PERMANENT?
To ensure the treatment continues to work successfully patients should wear retainers.
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?
No – we also offer Invisalign for children.
WHAT SORT OF PROBLEMS CAN IT HELP WITH?
Invisalign offer solutions for many dental problems including:
- Widely spaced teeth with gaps between them.
- Crowded teeth where there is not enough space in your jaw for the teeth to fit properly.
- Cross bite where upper and lower jaws are misaligned.
- Over bite where the upper teeth bite over the lower ones.
- Under bite where the lower teeth extend under the upper ones.
